Fish Monger

The job of cleaning / packaging fish is an important task that anyone can do, and if they can't assign them the job anyway - so that they can learn. The good news is that if you have a lousy cook, eat fish only occasionally (or don't catch any), this guy is basically on vacation. More likely, however, the task of filleting fish is a daily chore.

When packaging fish to take home, follow MNR guidelines so that fish can be easily identified (by species), measured and counted. Wrapping fish individually in plastic ziplock bags is a fast and convenient method. Many folks just head and gut fish before rinsing, bagging and freezing them for the trip home. Pack fish on ice in a cooler (wrapped in newspaper).
Keep in mind that it is contrary to MNR regs to waste or allow fish to spoil, so only keep what you will eat at one sitting. After cleaning fish, entrails must be removed from the outpost site, usually far down the lake along a remote beach or on a mid-lake outcropping where gulls can gorge themselves on the offal bounty. Fish guts should never be dumped directly into the lake or river.
